At the Gate of Hell
I stood at the gate of Hell, and heard the people cry.
All the souls who rejected Christ, and believed in Satan's lie.
I heard their moan of misery - I heard their sobs of shame,
I even felt their hearts' lament - as they suffered in the flame.I bent at the gate of Hell, and I couldn't do a thing
to help those poor tormented souls enslaved in death's cold sting.
The rich, the famous, poor and proud, noble man and wise,
who'd refused Salvation's offer, and the love of God despised.I knelt at the gate of Hell, and felt humanity move
in one almighty groan of pain, to a lost eternity.
Unable to resist the flow, they were carried with a tide
of sorrowing human spirits, to a cavern deep and wide.The stench of sulphur, fear and pain, floated through the air.
It filled my eyes, my heart, my brain, and cloaked me in despair.
I cried at the gate of Hell, I sobbed for all the lost
whom I'd passed on my way through life, and never shared the cost
of the Price of God's Dear Son, who died on Calvary,
Who stood in their own place, so that they might go free.I confessed at the gate of Hell, of all the years of waste.
Days just spent in selfishness, - people I had faced
and refused to share the Word to set the Captives free,
who now cried out in the depth of Hell, and all because of me.I prayed at the gate of Hell, Lord give me one more try
to redeem the time I've lost, to wipe the prisoner's eye;
to bind up the broken hearts, to change the darkest night,
to point the way to Calvary, to show your Glorious Light.I lay at the gate of Hell, when My Saviour lifted me
With His Precious arms of compassion, and wiped away my tear.
"The past cannot be changed", He said, "Tomorrow's a brand New Day.
Just remember what you witnessed, as you journey day to day.
Share the love I've given you with everyone you see.
Heal the sick, release the bound, show them Calvary."I turned from the gate of Hell, with a Spirit full of praise;
a deeper love for the lost to carry all my days.
I vowed at the gate of Hell, never would there be
another soul tricked in its depth, all because of me.
